First, thanks for joining us on the Crew
This Crew site is version 1. Tools and processes are still in flux, and we encourage you to update documentation, division information and so on.
We WELCOME and desire feedback on how it’s working for you. If it’s working for you.
Please check out the First Steps and Welcome sections. Then explore. See what doesn’t work. What is frustrating.
A note about confidentiality
Please assume that anything you see on this site should be confidential to our group, unless we have released it through proper channels, like on our website, press releases and so on. We will have talking points documents as well that will be information that we encourage you to talk about.
Goals:
- Provide clear information about the tools available and how to use them. And why to use them.
- Provide self service tools as much as possible so that HODs, area heads etc have the ability to mange their own people.
- Provide support/request tools that keep track of requests so that all crew can see the status of requests.
- Provide tools to members on the front end of the website so they can see their status in the bid and the convention.
- Provide tools to members to change their own information.
Our Web Tools
Broadly speaking, we have two areas that contain information and tools.
- This Crew website is intended to be a central hub for information. If you get lost, then you should always be able to come back here to find your way. This Crew site is built on WordPress and a number of plugins to enable various functionalities that are not available (or only available for large amounts of money) on Google Suites.
- This Crew site gives us Profiles that can be used for getting to know each other.
- Project management
- A Support Ticketing system
- Other tools to do with Member communication.
- Because we have access to Google Suites, we are creating our accounts for email there. And it is our depository for files and documents.
- We are using Google Groups for email lists and shared mailboxes.
- We are using Google Site as our Wiki for information that changes rapidly, and so that you, as the Crew, can update your own areas.
We aim to not duplicate information across these areas. In general, creating to links to information is vastly preferred so that there is authoritative information.
In the following information, most of the references are to the top right user menu. (See First Steps>Profiles if you aren’t sure what this means)
As usual, this is in progress. Seriously glad for comments and constructive critique. For the purposes of testing, how about critiquing via the site? 🙂
